PARK

PROMOTING ARTISTS | REDEFINING KULTURE

PARK is a network organized by a group of young Calgarian artists to promote and support fellow young artists in the community. The city is growing, and we are excited to step up and take an active role in helping and shaping how culture will grow in urban Calgary.

From outdoor art sales to indoor fashion and art events, we're making PARK an active verb. The organization of our events is non-profit, with the opportunity for 100 percent of the profit of sale going to the independent artists taking part in the PARKSALE and PARKSHOW.

Thinking locally is one of the tenants of sustainability. In terms of growing our urban culture, the best place to start is within our own “garden” of creative talents and resources. That’s why we made the PARKSALE, and that’s what inspires Julie Heinrich, the groovy designer behind Noi Designs.

Not only does local production help the environment with reduced shipping and sourcing costs, but it also does wonders for the circulation system of creativity within our own city. “We need more locally produced everything,” Julie affirms. “I want to see more people making a full time living off of this particular sector.” And, if its bright and interesting swimsuits and sweet knits, all the better, no?

Julie shared her stuff at the PARKSHOW this March, and will be bringing her clothes, shoes and bag designs to the PARKSALE on Sunday. And speaking of thinking locally- getting on your bike, or taking public transportation to the University campus for the SALE is a great way to act sustainably as well.

You can see more of Julie’s designs at the Noi facebook group. But seriously, come on down and check a sweet local designer out!
