Vendor: Hanmade by Hannah Grant

(Hanmade by Hannah Grant S/S 08 collection)
We’re happy to have many vendors who want to play with us again after the fun last year’s PARKSALE. One vendor in particular shares our excitement for the second grow round — the awesome clothing line Hanmade by Hannah Grant celebrates the first anniversary of its debut at last year’s PARKSALE!

While Hannah’s been sewing for over seven years now, Hannah says events like the PARKSALE are great for encouraging more creative output for artists and designers. Any exposure is great, Hannah believes- “fashion shows, sales and such are great. There is nothing better than people who like your work. Stores that feature local artists and sales like PARKSALE are only the beginning [of the culture scene in Calgary], hopefully we’ll see some major growth in the local artistry scene.” That’s our plan, Hannah!

We also had the pleasure of working with Hannah at our fashion and art PARKSHOW this past March and it has been exciting for us to see Hannah’s collections develop through the connection we’ve made with her. You’re in luck, because as you can see from this hot little number, Hannah will be bringing “Dresses!!! lots of dresses” and florals from her Spring/Summer collection to the PARKSALE this year. Hannah says herself that she is especially inspired by fabrics, and she works entirely off the mannequin, which, she says, “is so much fun because you never know what you’re gonna get!” Playing with the textures and prints of material has worked out well for Hanmade and belies a hands-on playfulness for Hannah’s design process.

The best part about the PARKSALE, according to Hannah, that you not only get to check out the one of a kind designs she has created, but she gets to meet you. “If we have more events like PARKSALE, then Calgarians will be more willing to support local artists. It’s great when they can meet face to face with the artists and really connect! I want to see more boutiques, and more sales!!”
We’re eager about finding and establishing spaces where this sort of interactive art sharing can take place, too!!
