PARK

PROMOTING ARTISTS | REDEFINING KULTURE

PARK is a network organized by a group of young Calgarian artists to promote and support fellow young artists in the community. The city is growing, and we are excited to step up and take an active role in helping and shaping how culture will grow in urban Calgary.

From outdoor art sales to indoor fashion and art events, we're making PARK an active verb. The organization of our events is non-profit, with the opportunity for 100 percent of the profit of sale going to the independent artists taking part in the PARKSALE and PARKSHOW.

Playing. I think I love it even more now that I’m (sort of) a grown up, than when I was a kid. Or at least, I appreciate playing now with a gained awareness of how awesome it truly is to just let go and play along.
Collaborative creativity is a lot like playing- working off the dynamic of others, seeing what you can imagine up together, and then launching your project into outer spaces can be both a challenge and a blast, but most of all, a gratifying adventure.
The German artist Jan von Hollenbeck is all about capturing play, working with kids to create fantastic scenes that look like incredible fun, or with the hands of a bunch of people to reimagine the works of great masters. Even more than technique, his photography represents the action that created he scene, with an energy that all but shouts with the teetering before and after play that created the image.
The PARKSALE is a week away, and as we approach the big day, we are equally excited about getting outside and participating in the central phillosophy of why we made the PARKSALE in the first place— the interplay of all the young artists and designers we have in the Calgary area. It’s fun and exciting to see just how everyone comes and sets up in the great big scene of a sunny park.
We’re young, and we’re creative, and so is the culture scene in Calgary itself. You don’t have to go to outerspace to see some bright, young art stars- just come play along the PARKSALE this year.
