A little about the PARKSALE…
PARKSALE is an event and a network organized by a group of young Calgarian artists to promote and support fellow young artists in the community. The city is growing, we are excited about it and so we are here to help culture grow in urban Calgary.
The organization of the event is non-profit, with the opportunity for 100 percent of the profit of sale going to the young artists taking part in the PARKSALE.
Why? Many young artists have not had this opportunity before. We wanted to create a collective chance to participate in our city’s blooming culture and creative communities, and we know that especially in times like now with our current domestic and global economic crisis, fostering sustainable, cooperative and creative relationships amongst fellow artists and with our communities are the best way for us young citizens to build a dynamic place for ourselves in the future of our city.
Our emphasis on putting on this event in a green space with low impact installation, with our focus on local artists and sustainable and recycled fashion is part of the commitment we have to not only forging into new territory in our city, but nurturing the spaces, communities and environments we already have.
We are young people putting this together, and we are seeking to entertain, engage, and intrigue people of the whole community— families, professionals, and all ages. We have created the PARKSALE as our chance to assert ourselves as a new and creative force within an already thriving city, and we’ve got lots to share.
As we develop this ongoing project, we hope our connections and products will continue to change and thrive. This blog is full of information about the people we’re working with, what inspires us, and the fertilizer of our minds. Check it.
